The cattorobe was a type of musical wind instrument. It consisted of a cylindrical body with ribbing along much of its length and a tubular mouthpiece extending from the thinner end.[1] In the year 32 BBY,[3] a Bith musician playing as part of a band in the stands of the[2] Mos Espa Grand Arena[1] on the planet Tatooine used a cattorobe during the[2] Boonta Eve Classic[1] podrace.[2]
Behind the scenes
A cattorobe first appeared as a prop in the 1999 prequel trilogy film, Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace. The prop was not named in the film,[2] but received identification in the 2017 reference book Star Wars: The Visual Encyclopedia, which was written by Adam Bray, Tricia Barr and Cole Horton.[1]
