Casey Donahue Ackley has been a LucasArts employee involved in the production of several video games.
During the development of Star Wars: Rebel Assault, director Steve Dauterman asked Ackley to oversee production and handle the crisis of the last stages of the game. As associate producer, she assisted lead programmer/designer Vincent Lee, took charge of administrative details, dealt with marketing, facilitated communication between Lee and the art department, rearranged and prioritized shots, even every few hours. She and Lee authored the game's manual and the reference card. She is credited as associate producer for all versions (PC, Macintosh, FM Towns and Sega CD) of Rebel Assault.[1]
Ackley was asked to promote Rebel Assault at the Mill Valley Film Festival in October 1993. She was the last presenter, and demonstrated the game to multimedia and film people. She publicly played a beta version of the game, even though she had not experience with it, and feeling it stood out from other "artsy" titles presented before her. There was an enthusiastic reaction, and the presenter wished to buy the beta version of the game for himself.[1]
