- "This tactic came in handy when we made an assault on a farming village on Carnth."
- ―Airen Cracken, Cracken's Rebel Field Guide
Carnth was a Mid Rim world located in the M'shinni sector. During the Galactic Civil War, the Galactic Empire's prefect on Carnth promised the farmers of a local village substantial rewards for remaining loyal to the Empire, which hampered the Rebel Alliance's efforts to establish a small base at the settlement. Eventually, Airen Cracken led a Rebel force in an assault on the village that ultimately resulted in the settlement aligning itself with the Alliance.
Description
Carnth was a terrestrial world[3] located in the Carnth system, a part of the M'shinni sector[1] in the New Territories portion of[2] the Mid Rim.[1]
History
- "The Imperial prefect of the world had made many promises of reward if the farmers remained loyal to the Empire."
- ―Airen Cracken, Cracken's Rebel Field Guide
Airen Cracken led a Rebel Alliance assault on a farming village on Carnth.
During the Galactic Civil War between the Galactic Empire and the Rebel Alliance, Carnth was governed by an Imperial prefect. The Alliance attempted to establish a small base in a farming village there, but its attempts were subverted by the prefect promising the farmers substantial rewards for remaining loyal to the Empire, with the farmers refusing to talk to Rebel representatives.[3]
Ultimately, the Human Rebel officer Airen Cracken led a force in an assault on the village. After the Rebel soldiers let loose a volley of bolts from their modified blasters at the farmers charging them, a cease-fire was called, and subsequently intense negotiations with the village elders resulted in the Alliance force being granted entry into the village, with the entire settlement eventually coming to support the Rebellion. Cracken later noted his experiences on Carnth in Cracken's Rebel Field Guide, a datafile he had composed that documented various pieces of equipment used during the Galactic Civil War.[3]
Locations
- "The farmers refused to talk to us, but we needed to establish a small base in the strategically located village."
- ―Airen Cracken, Cracken's Rebel Field Guide
Carnth was home to a strategically placed village of poorly armed farmers.[3]
Behind the scenes
Carnth was mentioned in the 1991 sourcebook Cracken's Rebel Field Guide, which was written by Christopher Kubasik and published by West End Games for use with Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game.[3] The 2009 reference book The Essential Atlas placed the Carnth system, and therefore the world itself, in grid square M-7.[2]
