"In addition to the Trade Federation, Teem now has the backing of the Corporate Policy League."
"The Senate is not ready to elect a militant, much less a militant Gran. Embracing the support of the CPL is equivalent to promising the repeal of anti-slavery restrictions."
―The Sith Lords Darth Plagueis and Darth Sidious[1]

The Corporate Policy League (CPL) was a pro-militant and pro-business lobbyist group operating in the last few decades of the Galactic Republic, aiming to influence Galactic Senate policy to those ends. Overall, however, the group was not popular among the Senate[1] in 32 BBY.[2] The Sith Lord Darth Sidious, who was active in the Senate under his guise as Senator Palpatine of the Mid Rim planet Naboo, compared embracing the CPL at that time to someone being in open support of slavery.[1]

In the 32 BBY[2] Supreme Chancellor election, the Trade Federation of Planets and CPL endorsed Gran Senator Ainlee Teem in his campaign for Supreme Chancellorship. However, the CPL's endorsement essentially doomed his chances of securing the election as the Senate, already unwilling to elect a militant Gran, did not wish to support someone backed by the CPL. In the end, it was Palpatine who won the election, paving the galaxy closer to the Sith Order's planned civil war and the culmination of its Grand Plan.[1]

Behind the scenes

The Corporate Policy League was mentioned within the 2012 novel Darth Plagueis by James Luceno.[1]
