The C-16 fragmentation grenade was a model of fragmentation grenade manufactured by Merr-Sonn Munitions, Inc. The grenade contained a detonite core surrounded by a prestressed chrome shell. When detonated, the C-16 sent out a flurry of shrapnel into the target area.[1] The C-16 had a low mass, and incorporated a detonator switch with a present delay of four seconds. The timer could be altered by twisting a dial.[2] The C-16 was popular with Alliance to Restore the Republic soldiers during the Galactic Civil War,[1] as well as New Republic troops.[2]
