The Byss shipyards were shipyards in operation at the planet Byss.[3] During the Imperial Era, the Galactic Empire's military operated these Class IA shipyards to build cruisers and Imperial-class Star Destroyers.[4] After the death of Emperor Palpatine at the Battle of Endor and his subsequent resurrection on Byss, the shipyards were assigned to the production of massive battlestations and warships such as the Galaxy Gun, the Eclipse-class dreadnoughts, the Sovereign-class Super Star Destroyers,[5] and the World Devastators used by the Dark Empire against the New Republic during Operation Shadow Hand.[6]
