The bulbous[3] was a creature that was used as a dejarik holomonster.[1] They were native to the planet Dorin and could project toxic gasses to kill enemies.[2]
Behind the scenes
This creature was going to be featured on the dejarik table in A New Hope, but it was cut alongside another creature.[4]
Bublous dejarik piece in Solo: A Star Wars Story
Decades later, during the production of Solo: A Star Wars Story the original puppets of the creatures would be digitally scanned and added to the film. At one point during the film Chewbacca hits the dejarik table in the Millennium Falcon, and both pieces of the creatures fizzle out, explaining why they aren't present later on in A New Hope.[4]
The creature was nicknamed "Bulb" by the production crew of A New Hope,[4] and it was first identified as bulbous in the YT-1300 Millennium Falcon Owners' Workshop Manual.[3]
