A Jedi statue was located in a temple on the planet Genbara. During a duel between the Sith Kouru and the former Sith known as the Ronin twenty years after Imperial unification, the Ronin placed his lightsaber in the old statue's hands. Kouru saw the glow of the lightsaber's blade through a waterfall and bisected the statue, thinking it was the Ronin. The Ronin then fatally stabbed Kouru from behind with the blade of his scabbard auxiliary. After considering the desecrated Jedi statue, the Ronin offered a brief, silent prayer for both it and Kouru.[1]

The Jedi statue first appeared in "The Duel," a non-canon short film released as part of the first volume of the Star Wars: Visions series, written by Takashi Okazaki and directed by Takanobu Mizuno. The animated short, produced by Kamikaze Douga, was released on Disney+[2] on September 22, 2021.[3]

The statue was designed by Okazaki, who based it on a Buddha statue modeled after George Lucas, the creator of Star Wars. The shape of the statue's halo was inspired by Panasonic's mascot "Sparky", which was designed by Ralph McQuarrie and produced by Industrial Light & Magic.[4]
