Buccel Trune was a human[3] male[2] who fought alongside the Alliance to Restore the Republic during the Galactic Civil War[3] and later became the father of the New Republic Security Bureau officer Sela Trune.[2] In 4 ABY,[5] Trune alerted the Mon Calamari Admiral Gial Ackbar about an assassination attempt on Mon Mothma.[3] After the Battle of Endor, Trune witnessed[6] and informed Agent Calder Behrens that the Spice Runners of Kijimi have allied with Grand Moff Ubrik Adelhard.[4] At some point, Trune later lived at a farm on the planet Yungbrii. He was often stoic and distant, but Trune felt that he had moments of warmth. Less than a month after Trune joined the New Republic, her father, along with her mother and brother Gaithel, were killed in the crossfire of a skirmish between New Republic officers and members of the Spice Runners of Kijimi.[2]
Behind the scenes
Buccel Trune was first mentioned, albeit unidentified, in the 2020 young adult novel Poe Dameron: Free Fall, which was written by Alex Segura.[2] The character later made their first appearance in the comic book one-shot Return of the Jedi – The Rebellion 1,[3] also written by Segura and published by Marvel Comics on July 19, 2023.[7] While the character was initially unconfirmed to be the same, Segura clarified that Buccel was intended to be Sela's father.[8]

Notes and references
- ↑ Poe Dameron: Free Fall states that the skirmish on Yungbrii took place around five years prior to Poe Dameron joining the Spice Runners of Kijimi. Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker: The Visual Dictionary establishes that Dameron joined the Spice Runners sixteen years before the Starkiller Incident, which Star Wars: Galactic Atlas dates to 34 ABY. Dameron must have therefore joined the Spice Runners in 18 ABY, while the skirmish, including the death of Sela Trune's father, must have taken place around 13 ABY.

In the Rebellion one-shot, we learned that Buccel Trune had a planned retirement on Yungbrii. In Free Fall, we know that Sela Trune's father also happened to retire on Yungbrii. Based on those info, if you're allowed, is it safe to say that Buccel is Sela's father?")
