Brine-maggots were a type of maggot that lived in groups known as schools.[1] In 4 ABY,[2] worry gnawed at the New Republic Mon Calamari Admiral Gial Ackbar like a school of brine-maggots after he learned that the Galactic Empire was blockading the planet Akiva and enacting a communications blackout there for reasons he did not know.[1]

Brine-maggots were mentioned in Aftermath, a 2015 novel written by Chuck Wendig as the first installment in Star Wars: The Aftermath Trilogy.[1]
