"Do not wait for opportunity to strike. Steal it instead!"
―From the Book of Hondo[2]

The Book of Hondo was a book written by Hondo Ohnaka,[1] a notorious Weequay pirate active during the Clone Wars and Imperial Era.[3] It was published a few years after the Battle of Endor.[4] The book outlined Ohnaka's philosophy regarding his nefarious lifestyle,[1] and it included advice such as "stealing" an opportunity rather than waiting for one.[2] Considered to be Ohnaka's most infamous contribution, the Book of Hondo was rumored to have inspired other well-known criminals, such as the "Crimson Corsair."[1]

Behind the scenes

The Book of Hondo was first mentioned in the epigraph of "The Crimson Corsair and the Lost Treasure of Count Dooku," a short story written by Landry Q. Walker and released as an eBook in 2015 under the Journey to Star Wars: The Force Awakens publishing label.[2] In 2016, the short story was republished in the book Tales from a Galaxy Far, Far Away: Aliens: Volume I, although the epigraph which mentioned the Book of Hondo was not included.[5]
