"You won't see it on the Imperial-controlled feeds, but there was a recent bombing on Caviness IV. Twenty-seven adults dead and several children wounded in an Unbroken Clan–controlled district. Doesn't take a Jedi Master to figure out who did it…the Mourner's Wail—revenge for an attack on a spice run, I heard."
―T'onga, to Beilert Valance[1]

In 3 ABY,[2] a bombing on Caviness IV was undertaken by the Mourner's Wail Syndicate in a district controlled by its rival, the Unbroken Clan criminal syndicate, on the astronomical object Caviness IV. The bombing resulted in the deaths of twenty-seven adults and wounded several children. Sometime after the event, Imperial stormtroopers were present at the site of the bombing.[1]

Not long after the bombing, the bounty hunter T'onga mentioned it to fellow bounty hunter Beilert Valance, claiming[1] he[3] would not see it on Imperial feeds. T'onga told Valance it was easy to work out who had carried out the bombing and that she had heard it was revenge for the Unbroken Clan attacking a Mourner's Wail spice run. She then noted that the bombing's immediate cause did not really matter as the syndicates had been at war for years after the bounty hunter Nakano Lash was believed to have assassinated both syndicates' heirs, and pinned the deaths in the war on Lash's head.[1]
