The Bloodshield was a legendary capital ship that was ancient by the time of the adoption of the starship classification scheme known as the Anaxes War College System during the Clone Wars of 22 BBY–19 BBY. The vessel was used by the planet Alsakan, which, together with its allies, waged a series of wars known as the Alsakan Conflicts between 17,018 BBY and 3017 BBY against the Galactic Republic's capital world Coruscant.[1]
Some military historians insisted that, under the Anaxes War College System, the Bloodshield would fall into the capital ship category known as battlecruisers, which were generally between two and five kilometers long. Most historians, however, agreed that the earliest warship model qualifying for that category was instead the twenty-five-hundred-meter Procurator-class Star Battlecruiser, which was developed two centuries before the Clone Wars.[1]
