Blood orchids were a type of orchid that possessed decorative qualities, which made them good gifts. During the rebellion on the Outer Rim planet Akiva[1] in 4 ABY,[2] the gangster Toomata Wree searched for a gift to give his girlfriend, Looda, and considered presenting her with some blood orchids placed inside the shiny head of a protocol droid.[1]
