Bleeding Gut was a fungus from the[1] Outer Rim Territories[2] planet Dathomir. The fungi consisted of a flat red base with spiky stalks, with some varieties having extra stalks. Unlike other fungi on the planet, it did not reproduce through the use of spores, but rather their cells divided spontaneously. This gradually formed small pods which burst open when fully matured. Cal Kestis found a Bleeding Gut seed during his mission to rebuild the Jedi Order and added it to Greez Dritus' terrarium aboard the Stinger Mantis.[1]
