The human Bix Caleen had a child with the rebel operative Cassian Andor.[2] In 2 BBY,[4] Caleen left Andor behind on the moon Yavin 4 to ensure that he would keep fighting for the Rebellion instead of leaving because of his desire for a peaceful life with her.[5] Unbeknownst to Andor, Caleen was pregnant at the time, and their child was born in the months that followed. In 1 BBY, around the time of the Battle of Scarif in which Andor would lose his life, Caleen was living with her baby on the planet Mina-Rau,[2] where she had lived with Andor years earlier.[6]
Behind the scenes
- "More than anything, I wanted to end on hope. I really want to be hopeful at the end of it. It's a very rigorous ride. We've done all kinds of things in this show all the way through, but it would be a crime against nature to not finish with something hopeful, because what else do we have? I mean, we have to have that. And as long as it's not cheesy and not some corny thing, it felt like it was really earned and legit."
- ―Tony Gilroy
Andor's child appeared in "Jedha, Kyber, Erso," the final episode of the television series Andor. The episode aired on May 13, 2025.[2] Gilroy outright confirmed that Cassian Andor was the child's father in an interview with Entertainment Weekly.[3] When asked if the child had a name, showrunner Tony Gilroy said that it has not been identified in any way. Adria Arjona, who plays Caleen, said that she had her own hypothetical answer as to what the baby's name is.[7] According to Gilroy, the scene was a way to end the story of Andor on a note of hope.[3] Andor actor Diego Luna knew about the scene before the beginning of production on Andor Season 2.[8]
The Hollywood Reporter described the child as a male in an interview with Gilroy, but Gilroy did not confirm the child's gender himself. Gilroy also stated that, at least in his mind, Caleen was pregnant when she left Andor,[9] something that must be true as the child is Andor's, although he admitted he had not done the math himself. Indeed, Gilroy told Rolling Stone that, at least as he understood her performance, Arjona played Bix in such a way that it was clear she was pregnant when she left Yavin.[10]
