- "Been doing some reading. I know you were born on Lothal, though you split from your family when they sided with the rebels. That taint stuck with you at the Imperial Academy, and you almost ended up with a career making shuttle runs, only—"
- ―Former New Republic pilot Nath Tensent, to Bansu Ro
During the time of the Galactic Empire, the family of[2] the human[1] male Bansu Ro, who was born on[2] the planet[3] Lothal, sided with rebels against the Empire. Ro resultantly split from his family[2] and joined the Imperial Academy on the[1] planet[4] Carida.[1] Although the allegiance of his estranged family initially put a stain on his career prospects in the Empire, Ro was taken in by the Empire's 204th Imperial Fighter Wing[2] in 4 ABY.[5] Four months after the fall of the Galactic Empire at the Battle of Jakku[2] in 5 ABY,[3] he was an ex–Imperial present on the planet Freerock.[2]
Behind the scenes
The family first appeared in the form of Bansu Ro in the fourth issue of the Star Wars: TIE Fighter comic series, written by Jody Houser, penciled by Rogê Antônio and Ig Guara,[1] and published by Marvel Comics on July 17, 2019.[6] Bansu Ro's family was then established to exist in Victory's Price: An Alphabet Squadron Novel, the final novel in Alexander Freed's Star Wars: Alphabet Squadron trilogy which was published in 2021.[2]

- ↑ Bansu Ro joined the 204th Imperial Fighter Wing in the fourth issue of the Star Wars: TIE Fighter comic series, which takes place between the mission to the Kudo system and the Battle of Endor. Since Star Wars: Timelines dates the latter two events to 4 ABY, Ro must have joined the 204th in that year.
