"Please, the next groundquake could destroy this mesa-kill us all!"
"Then let's keep the negotiations brief, hmm? We've done no harm to these people. All we seek is the droid's isotope-5 power supply."
―Erkens and Balog[1]

Captain Balog was a Chiss male who served the reconstituted Sith Empire as an officer in 3638 BBY. Balog was among the Imperial personnel deployed during the Conquest of Makeb, and led an Imperial strike team to raid the Makeb settlement of Tarlam for information, taking Mayor Erkens hostage for a short time.

Biography

Captain Balog was an officer of the reconstituted Sith Empire's military during the Galactic War.[1] When the Hutt Cartel invaded the planet Makeb[3] while drilling for Isotope-5, a mineral used as an energy source,[4] in 3683 BBY,[5] Balog was part of the Imperial forces dispatched in response. He led a strike team to the city of Tarlam to retrieve Isotope-5 fuel rods, containing Isotope-5, from a Hutt Cartel Isotope-5 droid[1]war droids powered by Isotope-5.[6] Balog and his soldiers took Tarlam's residents, including Mayor Erkens, hostage.[1]

Balog was then confronted by an individual affiliated with the Galactic Republic, the government that was fighting against the Empire in the Galactic War, who had previously been sent to Tarlam by Makeb bussines magnate and politician Shalim Avesta. This Republic operative confronted Captain Balog and gave him an Isotope-5 fuel rod rather than allow him to kill Mayor Erkens.[1]
