The Baktan 5000 was a race participated in by the starship racer Marcus Speedstar.[1] In 34 ABY,[2] the Resistance spy[3] Kazuda Xiono—acting as a mechanic—was helping Speedstar work on his ship,[1] the Galaxy's Glory,[3] in preparation for the race known as the Platform Classic[1] on the planet[3] Castilon. While speaking to Speedstar during the work, he mentioned the Baktan 5000 to be one of the racer's accomplishments.[1]

The Baktan 5000 was first mentioned in "The Platform Classic,"[1] the ninth episode of the first season of the Star Wars Resistance animated television series which premiered on November 25, 2018.[4]
