A two-pilot BARC speeder was utilized by Galactic Republic clone troopers during the Clone Wars.[1] Like the regular BARC speeder which was used by the Grand Army of the Republic, it had a turbine engine.[2]
The two-person speeder had two main differences from the BARC speeder: instead of seating just one driver, it was capable of seating an additional tail gunner in the space behind the pilot's seat who carried a personal blaster. The two pairs of blaster cannons of the speeder were in front of the driver on the bottom of the speeder, while the original BARC speeder's cannons were behind the driver.[1]
Behind the scenes
The BARC speeder comes from the licenced LEGO Star Wars Clone Troopers Battle Pack toyset, released in 2007 as part of their Revenge of the Sith toy line. The speeder model differs from the one that was used during the Clone Wars, with the two main differences mentioned above.[1] The set is also included in 2014's LEGO Star Wars: The Visual Dictionary: Updated and Expanded, written by Simon Beecroft with additional text by Jason Fry.[2] The 2017 source book release Ultimate LEGO Star Wars calls set "Republic Speeder Bike" and contains basic description of the vehicle.[3]
