- "Did you know that Mellichae is a prisoner here in Aurilia? Captain Sarguillo defeated him."
- ―An Aurilia citizen, to a spacer
The Aurilia prison was a prison located in the hidden township of Aurilia on Dathomir during the Galactic Civil War. It was guarded by Aurilia sentinels.[2]
History
- "I have had enough of the good Captain's hospitality."
- ―Mellichae, to a spacer
Mellichae, imprisoned in the Aurilia prison.
The Aurilia prison was built after the reconstruction of the village, following the battle of Aurilia,[2] in 1 ABY.[1] The Dark Jedi Mellichae, leader of the Sith Shadows, was held prisoner there after being captured by Captain Sarguillo during the battle.[2]
Sometime later, a disoriented Nightsister who wandered into town was captured and detained in the prison after she attacked Sarguillo and his men.[4]
Around the same time, Aurilia was attacked by stormtroopers and Mellichae made his escape from the prison. A group of Rebel agents later visited the village, looking for a fragment of the Codex of Tython, an ancient Jedi Holocron, kept by Mellichae. Captain Sarguillo who was not able to track Mellichae himself pointed where to find the Dark Jedi. The agents eventually found Mellichae and a band of Sith Shadows and defeated them. They also recovered the piece of Holocron from the Dark Jedi. Afterward, Mellichae was once again returned to custody in Aurilia.[3]
Behind the scenes
The Aurilia prison appeared in the 2003 video game Star Wars Galaxies, a massively multiplayer online roleplaying game developed by Sony Online Entertainment and published by LucasArts,[2] prior to its closure on December 15, 2011.[5] The Aurilia prison was added to the game along with the revamped city of Aurilia,[2] released with the "Chapter 7" update on November 1, 2007.[6]

Notes and references
- ↑ 1.0 1.1 The opening crawl of Star Wars Galaxies: An Empire Divided dates the game to after the events of Star Wars: Episode IV A New Hope, and additionally, Serji-X Arrogantus, who died in Star Wars (1977) 10—the events of which The New Essential Chronology dates to 0 ABY—appears in the game. Therefore, at least a portion of Star Wars Galaxies must be set in that year. Furthermore, in the game Ruwan Tokai references the destruction of the Death Star as having occurred one year earlier, and Strongholds of Resistance also places the events of Galaxies' Chapter 9: "The Fury of Exar Kun" in 1 ABY. Lastly, while Chapter 11: "The Battle of Echo Base" features the Battle of Hoth—dated to 3 ABY by The New Essential Chronology—the developers have stated that the portrayal of that battle in the game is intentionally anachronistic. Therefore, the events of Star Wars Galaxies must span from 0 ABY to around 1 ABY.
