Assault on Christophsis

The assault on Christophsis^[2] was a brutal ground^[4] and air^[2] campaign launched by the Confederacy of Independent Systems^[4] as an invasion of the planet Christophsis^[3] in 22 BBY,^[1] shortly after the First Battle of Geonosis,^[4] specifically coming after the mission to Kudo III.^[1] General Whorm Loathsom led the Separatist Droid Army on the ground. The invasion included a siege of the capital city,^[3] Chaleydonia.^[4] A fleet of warships under Admiral Trench also established a blockade around the planet. A Galactic Senate relief effort under Senator Bail Prestor Organa was thus trapped on the ground and even was targeted by the Separatists. As the invasion entered its final stages, forces under Jedi Generals Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker arrived in the Christoph system.^[2]

By the time of the destruction of Trench's blockade,^[2] the Separatist invasion had claimed the planet,^[4] but pockets of resistance still remained that prevented the assault from being a total victory.^[2] Rather than focus on those rebels, Loathsom was forced to redirect his forces to counter the arrival of the Grand Army of the Republic on the ground.^[4] As the battle dragged on, another droid army was dispatched to Christophsis, which the Separatists hoped would wipe out the Republic's forces and formally claim the planet for the Confederacy.^[5]
