Arlo Grennen was a male Jedi Master who served the Jedi Order and the Galactic Republic during the Galactic War with the reconstituted Sith Empire. Grennen decided to investigate the influence of the dark side of the Force on the moon Yavin 4, and searched through the libraries of the Jedi Temple on[2] the planet[4] Tython to find information on the moon before heading there himself.[2]

Grennen recorded his research in a journal, documenting the moon's history with the Sith, including the Sith Lord Naga Sadow[5] and the fallen Force-users Freedon Nadd[6] and Exar Kun.[7]

However, the longer he stayed on the moon, the more the influence of the dark side corrupted the Jedi Master, and he believed that he would be the next in line to inherit the dark side from Exar Kun; however, he was driven mad by the spirit of the Sith Emperor[8] sometime between 3640 BBY and 3637 BBY.[1] Grennen foresaw the arrival of the former Jedi Revan, and vowed to do everything he could to stop Revan from destroying the Emperor, but the Emperor ignored Grennen's devotion and absorbed the Jedi Master's essence, killing Grennen.[8]

The post also states that Game Updates released in 2014 can be placed in early and mid 3637 BBY, Shadow of Revan takes place near the end of that year, and that the events of Game Updates 3.1 through 3.3 can be placed in early and mid 3636 BBY. Therefore, the events of Game Update 3.0 and the Digital Expansion Shadow of Revan can be placed near the end of 3637 BBY., and the Emperor's defeat occurs in 3640 BBY per the reasoning here; thus, Grennen's death must occur between those two dates.
