- «Did I mention that my grandfather was an amazingly passionate art collector?»
- ―Irizi'ar'alani, to Mitth'raw'nuru
A male member of the Chiss Ascendancy's ruling Irizi family was the grandfather of Chiss Admiral Ar'alani of the Chiss Expansionary Defense Fleet. They were an avid collector of art.[1] Before 19 BBY,[2] while on the Ascendancy capital planet of Csilla, then–Senior Captain Ar'alani, known as Irizi'ar'alani, core name "Ziara," invited Senior Commander Mitth'raw'nuru, core name "Thrawn," to the Irizi family homestead. The commander initially declined the invite but then accepted it after Ziara mentioned that her grandfather was a collector of art, which Thrawn took interest in.[1]
Behind the scenes
Ar'alani's grandfather was mentioned in flashbacks of the 2020 novel Thrawn Ascendancy: Chaos Rising, the first installment of Timothy Zahn's Star Wars: The Ascendancy Trilogy.[1]
