- "Balada and the Hunter visited Balada's office where she showed off one of her rarest finds – an Antarean butterfly – a poisonous creature long thought to be extinct!"
- ―Arena News
An Antarean butterfly was a type of poisonous butterfly long thought to be extinct[1] by 9 ABY. That year,[2] Arena News reported that[1] the planet Vespaara's[3] Grand Arena co-owner Balada the Hutt brought[1] the Zabrak Hunter Nox[3] to her office and showed an Antarean butterfly, noting that it was the Hutt's rarest find.[1]

The Star Wars Legends depiction of the butterfly
An Antarean butterfly was mentioned in the current Star Wars canon in "Poison in Private," an article of the in-universe media coverage of the video game Star Wars: Hunters, which was released on October 31, 2024.[1] In the Star Wars Legends continuity, the butterfly first appeared, albeit unidentified, in the forty-eighth issue of the comic-book series Star Wars, which was written by Larry Hama, illustrated by Carmine Infantino,[4] and published by Marvel Comics on March 24, 1981.[5]
