Ananuru was a location in the galaxy where the crime lord Hamnet attempted to bid on an Imperial virus formula from Hakon deVille.
Behind the scenes
Ananuru first appeared in the unlicensed magazine article "Ananuru Express," which was published outside of Lucas Licensing's approval process and thus is considered non-canon. However, Ananuru was later canonized by inclusion in The Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia, which repeated some details of the adventure.
Non-canon content
Ananuru was a barren planet with a surface consisting of mountains surrounded by "oceans" of dust. However, these mountains had a certain grandeur while the dust oceans were spectacular, restless, and dangerous. With the correct weather conditions, they produced beautiful light effects which were known as "dustbowls" which attracted tourists looking for luxury holidays at a suitably inflated price. The Ananuru Express was built to deal with these tourists and ran from Ananuru City along a monorail suspended above the dust seas which were protected from the dust by force fields.
