"This 100,000 credit voucher is yours to use as you see fit, as long as you join the Alderbathe Monastery for life and give it all to them. Love, Grandpa."
―A note from a grandfather to their grandchild[1]

The Alderbathe Monastery[1] was located in[3] the Alderbathe system of the Mid Rim's Churnis sector.[2]

At one point during the Galactic Civil War, the grandfather of one of a group of individuals addressed a note to their grandchild in which they bequeathed to them a credit voucher of one hundred thousand credits. However—despite claiming that the grandchild was free to do with the money as they wished—the grandfather also noted that they had to join the Alderbathe Monastery for life and also give all the credits to them.[1]

Behind the scenes

The Alderbathe Monastery was mentioned in the 1995 sourcebook Heroes & Rogues, authored by Rick Stuart and Paul Sudlow and published for use with West End Games' Star Wars: The Roleplaying Game. The book mentions the monastery in an example in-universe message illustrating how a player character having received a special gift with "strings attached" could figure into the development of their backstory. This article assumes that situation plays out as described.[1]

(backup link) (screenshot) Jason Fry, co-author of The Essential Atlas, stated his intention to create homeworlds for numerous species based on context implied from their names. Given this principle, this article makes a similar basic assumption for the Alderbathe Monastery in relation to the Alderbathe system.
