- "Am I nuts, or do I look great?"
"The terms are not mutually exclusive." - ―Rael Averross and the WA-2G droid, as the former finished dressing in an Alderaanian shimmersilk ensemble
Alderaanian shimmersilk was a type of shimmersilk that shared its name with the Core Worlds planet Alderaan. During the Republic Era, the fabric was expensive and was used to make traditional Pijali court tunics on the Inner Rim planet Pijal.[1]
For the coronation of Pijal's Princess Fanry[1] in 40 BBY,[2] Pijal's Jedi lord regent Rael Averross wore a black Pijali court ensemble, pairing its tunic with a black cape featuring cerulean blue lining. Averross was unused to the fancy clothing's styling, as he usually preferred to present an unkempt appearance, but allowed a WA-2G droid to finish preparing him for the event. Several individuals seated for the coronation noticed Averross's choice of clothing when they attended the event not long afterward.[1]
Behind the scenes
Alderaanian shimmersilk appeared in Master & Apprentice, a 2019 novel written by Claudia Gray.[1]
