The Alderaanian Diplomatic Corps was a diplomatic group from the planet Alderaan. Prior to the Tantive IV—a CR90 corvette used by the royal house of Alderaan—being assigned a mission to the planet Tatooine[1] in 1 BBY,[2] the corps assigned the protocol droid U-3PO to the droid pool of the corvette. U-3PO had secretly been altered by Imperial agents and acted as a sleeper agent for them onboard the ship.[1]

Behind the scenes

In the current Star Wars canon, the Alderaanian Diplomatic Corps was mentioned in "The Rise of the Rebellion and the Battle of Yavin," a book published as part of the Star Wars Encyclopedia series by De Agostini on March 9, 2021.[3] The corps originated in the Star Wars Legends continuity, where it was first mentioned on a card in the 1995 A New Hope Limited set of the Star Wars Customizable Card Game.[4]
