Alaikai Trotter was a historian who resided on the Outer Rim planet Tatooine during the Galactic Civil War. Trotter had an intimate familiarity with the planet's history and that of its inhabitants. One of Trotter's most notable works was the study of the life and legacy of the famed Tatooinian Jedi Master Sidrona Diath.[1] In 1 ABY,[2] Alaikai Trotter recruited a spacer to fight dangerous creatures that infested the desert of Tatooine and protect the inhabitants of the planet like Sidrona Diath did thousand years before.[1]

Behind the scenes

Alaikai Trotter was first mentioned in the 2003 video game Star Wars Galaxies, a massively multiplayer online roleplaying game developed by Sony Online Entertainment and published by LucasArts,[1] prior to its closure on December 15, 2011.[3] Alaikai Trotter was mentioned in the mission "Diath's Shadow" that is available to players at mission terminals on Tatooine. Trotter hired the player to follow Diath's example and "free Tatooine from the monsters that infest the desert". The player had to destroy a random creature lair and several creatures to accomplish the mission.[1]

Furthermore, in the game Ruwan Tokai references the destruction of the Death Star as having occurred one year earlier, and Strongholds of Resistance also places the events of Galaxies' Chapter 9: "The Fury of Exar Kun" in 1 ABY. Lastly, while Chapter 11: "The Battle of Echo Base" features the Battle of Hoth—dated to 3 ABY by The New Essential Chronology—the developers have stated that the portrayal of that battle in the game is intentionally anachronistic. Therefore, the events of Star Wars Galaxies must span from 0 ABY to around 1 ABY.
