An Airgun was a type of airship that was used by the rival factions Open and Closed during the Open-Closed war. Airguns consisted of a gondola suspended by ropes and cords beneath a large buoyant airbag and were the primiary airship design used by the Open.[1] During the mission to Carnelion IV in 29 BBY,[5] Jedi Padawan Anakin Skywalker, a gifted mechanic, spliced together an airgun from a crashed Open airbag and a scavenged Closed gondola, creating his own airgun.[2]
