An air cushion was a type of medical device used by the Galactic Empire in Imperial medcenters, where they were earmarked for the treatment of burns victims who had suffered extensive skin loss. Patients using air cushions were suspended several feet in the air and via operation of a knob, the patient could be lowered back to the ground.[1]
Air cushions were among various pieces of ex-Imperial equipment kept in the home on the planet Msst of the mother of the Dark Jedi Brakiss.[1] In 17 ABY,[2] Brakiss's mother used several air cushions to treat the Jedi Master Luke Skywalker after he was injured by the mistmakers, a species of bubble-like predator endemic to Msst.[1]
