"Fighter pilots. The Old Republic had its Jedi; Adumar has its fighter pilots. They love them, a case of hero worship that spans their whole culture. Their entertainments revolve around them. Social promotion, properties, titles, all accompany military promotion in their pilot corps."
―Airen Cracken on the Adumari[1]

The Adumari were the Human natives of the planet Adumar, which they colonized approximately ten thousand years ago after staging a rebellion against the Old Republic. They were defeated and spared so long as they went far away and ceased making trouble.[1]

Adumari history indicated a pattern of repeated internal conflict, with the populace waging wars among themselves to the point of driving their own civilization into poverty and barbarism on at least two occasions. Despite these cycles of self-destruction, fragments of their ancient instructional recordings endured for thousands of years, preserving elements of their cultural memory. Their language managed to retain continuity, remaining a recognizable dialect of Basic even after millennia.[1]

They were completely forgotten by the Old Republic and went ignored during the Imperial era. It was only after being stumbled into by a deep-space scout of the New Republic during a mapping mission into the Unknown Regions that they were discovered.[1]

Their culture was steep in military worship of starfighter pilots, going as far as having their entertainments revolve around them. Advancement within the Adumari pilot corps carried significant civilian benefits, including elevated social standing, property rights, and formal titles. Duels were a norm for them, whether its starfighter combat or through blastswords, all in order to achieve honor.[1]

In 13 ABY, the New Republic sent a diplomatic mission to the planet in order to convince them to join the Republic. Owing the Adumari's obsession with pilots, the New Republic chose to send their best—General Wedge Antilles and his fellow Rogue Squadron pilots Tycho Celchu, Wes Janson, and Derek Klivian.[1]
