"My father owed Davik some money, but he couldn't pay. Davik killed my father and sold me into slavery here at the Vulkar compound to pay off the debt."
―Ada, to Revan[2]

The father of the[2] Human female[3] Ada was a man who owed money to Davik Kang, a crime-lord from the Outer Rim ecumenopolis of Taris. Kang worked for the Exchange, a powerful criminal organization, and was the head of its operations on the planet. After Ada's father was unable to pay him back, Kang had the man killed and enslaved Ada. Kang sold Ada to the Black Vulkars swoop gang to satisfy the debt.[2] She[4] remained enslaved during the Jedi Civil War between the Galactic Republic and the Sith Empire.[2]

In 3956 BBY,[1] former Sith Lord Revan, whose memories had been lost and replaced with those of a Republic soldier, encountered Ada working as a waitress in the swoop gang's compound. After killing the guards in the area,[2] he[5] talked with her, and she explained her situation, including her father's death. Revan asked Ada questions about the Vulkars and then allowed her to leave the base.[2]

Behind the scenes

"No—I won't go out like this! Not after all I've been through! I won't just let you kill me without a fight!"
―Ada, to Revan, in potential dialogue[2]

Ada's father was mentioned in the 2003 video game Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, developed by BioWare. The mention occurs during optional dialogue with Ada. Completing "The Search for Bastila" quest causes Ada to disappear, and the player can no longer access the dialogue. During this dialogue, the player may choose to free or kill Ada. The former choice gives the player light side points. If the player chooses to kill Ada, she will fight back and the player will shift towards the dark side. If Republic soldier Carth Onasi is one of the companions in the player's party when they attempt to kill Ada, he will prevent them from doing so and allow Ada to leave.[2]
