The Aculeus was a Mandator III-class dreadnought that was part of the navy of the Galactic Empire and its short-lived successor, the Dark Empire. The vessel was one of five Mandator III-class dreadnoughts to be part of the Dark Empire's attack on the New Republic–controlled Core Worlds[1] in 10 ABY.[2] Although the Imperial assault was initially quite successful, various Imperial factions turned on one another in a mad frenzy known as the Imperial Mutiny. As part of that conflict,[1] which also occurred in 10 ABY,[2] the Aculeus was destroyed in battle with squadrons of TIE/D automated starfighters at[1] the world[3] Drearia.[1]
