The 72nd Imperial Army Division was a division of the Galactic Empire's Imperial Army based several barracks in Coronet City,[1] on the Core Worlds planet[2] Corellia. The division was active there during the Galactic Civil War, and after the Battle of Yavin[1] in 0 BBY,[3] the Imperial special operations unit Black Epsilon planned to destroy the barracks of the 72nd Imperial Army Division in order to blame the Rebel Alliance and justify an Imperial invasion of Corellia.[4]

The 72nd Imperial Army Division was first mentioned in Star Wars Galaxies: Jump to Lightspeed, the first expansion pack for the Star Wars Galaxies video game that was released in 2004.[5]
