The 44th Division, also known as Rostu's Renegades, was a division of clone troopers and military personnel from other species that served in the Grand Army of the Republic under the command of Brevet Major Nick Rostu, during the Clone Wars between the Galactic Republic and the Confederacy of Independent Systems. Having assumed control of the unit in 21 BBY, Rostu and the division participated in many battles during the final two years of the war, including the Battle of Ando, the Battle of Atraken, and the Battle of Bassadro.[1]
Despite Nick Rostu remembering his division's service as chaotic and driven by luck, the Republic's HoloNet News portrayed the 44th Division as can-do soldiers, full of vigor and enthusiasm, that would quickly move from one planet to the next, excited to battle the Confederacy's forces, as propaganda for the Republic's loyalists.[1]

The 44th Division was mentioned in Coruscant Nights I: Jedi Twilight, a 2008 novel written by Michael Reaves and the first novel in the Star Wars: Coruscant Nights trilogy.[1]
