It was a poorly written & disjointed fan fiction that tried to paint the Sith as misunderstood, edgy & liberating while painting the Jedi as the corrupt patriarchy that deserves to be destroyed.

The entire premise was built around the idea that evil doesn’t actually exist but that it’s all about ‘POWAH & those who have it.’

Not only that, the main character’s motivation for revenge against the Jedi began as a result of her own unhinged actions when she literally burned her own home down like a psychopath because she couldn’t stand the idea of her twin wanting a better life outside their cult with the Jedi. Then their ‘mother’ died when she decided to suddenly use Dark Side smoke shenanigans right in front of Jedi who were now clearly on edge & predictably gets a lightsaber to the chest.

So really, everything went south because of her. But in modern feminist fashion, she takes absolutely no accountability for what her own actions brought about & narcissistically places all the blame on the Jedi who are ‘stifling’ her & the Sith she wishes to serve.

I think Palpatine always intended Vader to be his new ‘Grievous’: a symbol of fear that would serve as his loyal enforcer & lead his armies while being left just weak enough to never be a real threat.

If Obi-Wan hadn’t crippled him, I suspect Palpatine would have done it himself if Anakin was victorious & sought to challenge him or else have arranged it to happen perhaps by ‘accident.’ He was never going to share power or tolerate being replaced.

Probably just boiled down to her being more experienced as others have said. That & some people will naturally be more gifted at some things than others which might have been the case here too.

Kind of ridiculous when you really think about it…they weren’t soldiers, they were essentially a policing force. None of them were trained in military tactics & none of them went to war colleges.

It takes literally decades of extensive training in logistics, tactics, communication & understanding of the overall strategic situation just to be able to command an army much less lead it. Winging it doesn’t really work, not if you want an effective military force.

They absolutely shouldn’t have been generals, they just weren’t equipped for it in the slightest.

What they SHOULD have been were advisors, emissaries & diplomats while the more martially inclined were trained extensively in battle meditation to significantly enhance the army’s capabilities in battle, inserted into special forces detachments as potent force multipliers or used to guard important strategic assets.

Palpatine certainly didn’t anticipate Anakin losing on Mustafar, but he took advantage of it all the same.

The suit built ostensibly to save his life also used obsolete & poor quality parts that made him cumbersome, kept him in constant pain & left him particular vulnerable to Force Lightning…Palpatine could have enhanced him like Grievous but deliberately chose a rebuild that left him noticeably weaker than before & never offered nor tolerated an upgrade of any kind.

That doesn’t look like something you’d do if you wanted someone to equal & eventually surpass you, it just looks like a deliberate act of sabotage.

I very much doubt Anakin had any true loyalty to him at that point outside one moment of desperation after realizing he’d passed the point of no return with Windu. Afterwards, Sidious was basically forced to admit the ability to save others from death with the Force was something only his master partially knew how to do & that they’d have to figure it out themselves.

In short, he pretty much admitted he’d made an empty promise to Anakin & manipulated him to get what he wanted.

And after having some time to think about it & getting drunk on his own dark side power, Anakin reached the conclusion he really didn’t need Sidious anymore & fully intended to kill him while ruling the new Empire with Padme.

It was always going to end in a fight between them & Sidious knew it.

‘You just fell victim to one of the classic blunders! The most famous is to never start a vegan commune on Colla IV, but only slightly less well known is this…never go on a drinking binge with your Sith apprentice when death is on the line!’

Just saying…how wise could he be if that’s how he went out?

I feel like it would be Ventriss.

She did some evil stuff, but she had the self awareness to realize she’d been exploited & after surviving her betrayal chose to leave it all behind & start anew instead of doubling down to the bitter end or seeking to impose her will on others & become an abuser herself like Maul.

Depends, some were unapologetically evil while others were not or simply misguided.

I’d say Vectivus.

All the others had their own innovative approaches, but in the end they all followed the same path to the same result, even Bane: the pursuit of power at any cost with no regard for who was hurt by it, even their own. The Sith were always going to be doomed to self destruction by their very nature, Bane only succeeded in temporarily extending the expiration date.

Vectivus, on the other hand, didn’t lose himself to the allure of passion & power but instead sought balance & unlike all the rest found actual contentment in his life. And also unlike the others his life didn’t end violent at the hands of an ambitious apprentice, he died naturally surrounded by those he loved.

Detractors might say he did little to advance the Sith & lacked ambition, I’d say he was pragmatic enough to see the flaws in the Sith philosophy & moreover disciplined enough to avoid falling to the same pitfalls as his predecessors.

It’s a shame those who followed did not learn from his example, who knows what an increased drive towards self reflection might have led the Sith to?

Seconded, Thrawn trilogy is a great place to start. The Dark Empire graphic novels are also very good.

Cutting off attachments/emotions largely closed them off to the Living Force & sealed away much of what they could have achieved in favor of a narrow philosophy that became so rigid that it finally shattered.

It also played right into the hands of the Sith because their fear of change & their own potential only strengthened the dark side while weakening them in turn.

Of course, the Sith were just as flawed if for different reasons. While they weren’t afraid to innovate & truly explore the boundaries of the Force, their dogged focus only on extreme negative emotions/motivations limited their focus to a radical extreme which likewise closed off much of what the Living Force had to offer.

One side felt too little, the other too much.

If the intent was to rule by fear, the Death Star was the worst tool they could have used for it.

Were they going to blow up planets because of a small insurgency, how bad did it have to be before planetary destruction was considered reasonable & not an extreme overreaction?

And Alderaan proved loud & clear that this policy wasn’t just unrealistic but downright self defeating. Rather than being cowed, the galaxy responded with shock quickly followed by anger & an outpouring of sympathy which swelling the Rebellion’s ranks & coffers.

Oh he was a psychopath, no doubt. But an extremely cunning one & one well versed in blending in as a rational & well balanced individual when the situation called for it in the same manner as many modern serial killers.

He didn’t reach the heights he did by being impulsive, everything he did was calculated which makes his acceptance of the Death Star so seemingly out of character.

Seriously doubt it. If anything, it’d just serve to confirm his belief that the Jedi were losing sight of themselves & that the very conveniently placed clone army that just happened to be on hand to fight the Separatists was nothing but a trap by the Sith as was the war itself.

He could in fact became a rallying point for others who likewise believed this was not the Jedi way & cause a splintering of the Order.

I think he & Anakin would go into pseudo exile & focus on the Living Force while trying to get to the bottom as to who was truly pulling the strings alongside other similarly minded Jedi.

The s2 ending for The Mandalorian was absolutely perfect. But Disney being Disney looked at it & thought ‘how can I screw this up?’

So predictably in s3 they essentially just gave up & further tarnished it by association w/ Book of Boba Fett which was a travesty of writing & character assassination.

It makes me sad & angry because I know Disney is still capable of making legitimately good content, but for whatever reason it never lasts long & office politics always contrive a way to ruin it & leave the fans disappointed. It’s like a faction within the upper echelons is threatened by success.
