I managed to bring it from 30% different to 70% different in only a few hours. Another 10% can probably prevent it from being copyrighted.

"Too much" similarity does not really exist. The storyline is different just the weapons are similar.

Unless they happen to be in the specific area the book is sold they wouldn't even know much about it.
