The renowned publishing company will be back to our favorite galaxy far, far away! Dark Horse Comics had worked with Lucasfilm for ages, and with their partnership, countless wonderful comics and graphic novels weaved their way into the saga's expansive history. In 2015, to my personal disappointment, Disney returned the Star Wars comic license to Marvel Comics after 20+ years.
Now, everything has changed.
“I am thrilled that Dark Horse will once again bring new stories to life from this incredible galaxy. The Star Wars universe has grown over the years and there’s so many new opportunities for great stories. I can’t tell you how excited we are to get started!” - Mike Richardson (CEO & Founder of Dark Horse Comics)
According to StarWars.com, we will be getting new and original stories from all eras of the franchise, ranging from the glorious and empowering High Republic to the perilous rise of the First Order. This new initiative will commence once and for all in Spring 2022 with High Republic Era comics and will continue to develop with other stories as time goes on. No start date in specific has been confirmed, unfortunately.
As far as we know, this will not entirely diminish Marvel's role in the Star Wars comic book industry, but the two will now work with Lucasfilm Publishing to deliver enthralling stories. We can also assume that IDW, another publishing company working closely with Lucasfilm Publishing, will proceed to work on Star wars stories.
