I am attempting to add links to the structured quote in this article but every time I add in the wikitext and click apply, the quote editor screen goes into an indefinite loading sequence that prevents me from doing anything at all unless I reload the page, and does not save the edit. Why is this happening?
Remember when winning entries got 40+ likes? No? Just me?
So it's not just me, the place actually has gotten less active since I left
The glory days of MOTW are long over. I remember when the winning memes got upwards of 40 likes, and the contests had over 100 submissions. I look at this week's contest, and there's less than 30 submissions and none of them have even 10 likes.
It is never too late
No
I had a dream last night that someone went in this thread and asked a question so stupid that the mods locked the thread and made a new AAMAQ
That seems like more of an Ask An Editor A Question topic.
Unlikely to be relevant, but interesting: While Ajj's last sighting on this wiki was April 6th, her most recent activity on film review site Letterboxd was marking the film Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes as "liked." As far as I can tell, Letterboxd has no function to see when someone marked a film as liked, but KotPotA was released on May 10th, so it is unlikely the like was marked before then.
When I was active here it was because I was bored at school and fandom wasn't blocked on the school iPads (later laptops after I moved to a bigger town with bigger schools). I was rarely active during the summer because I had access to more exciting things to do with my time
Whoa, lots of messages in AAMAQ. I hadn't noticed Ajj had vanished, but then I'm not very active these days. I also forgot Givinname wasn't mod anymore
What do you mean by authentic?
This purge would have been not long before I came to this forum, if it was 5 years ago. 5 years ago was 2019 and I joined in 2020. I suppose this explains the general lawlessness at the time. Vs. polls and lots of other stuff that's banned today was allowed and it was generally a more chaotic space, which I can only assume is a consequence of trying to do the exact opposite of the pre-purge empire and give people a lot of freedom, only to end up giving them too much.
May the fourth be with you! I have put on a Star Wars sweater
Ok now I was just reading back through the whole fiasco and realized I didn't link the exact messages shown in the screenshot, just the thread. So even though it's completely pointless, I went back and found the exact messages.
Now back to not thinking about the Pottermore Incident
With the Power of Scrolling, I have located the messages in this thread from during the incident (scroll down from the linked message)
@Daisy Aipom a few years back, a user whose username at the time was "Darth Hallenbeck" (they've since changed it to "Jurassic Pride") was a regular on the forum and well known for inciting drama, and arguments very frequently. Eventually, they were banned for all the trouble they caused. Soon after, a post appeared from a user claiming to be a friend of Hallenbeck's from the "Pottermore Wiki" who went on an angry rant against the mods and users of our forums.
I clicked on the user's account, changed the wiki name in the address bar to the pottermore one, and then looked at their message history on that wiki. I was able to find a thread wherein Hallenbeck had condoned and encouraged this action, and a couple users declared "war" against Wookieepedia.
I quickly shared my findings with the mods here on this thread, who went over there and warned the users that inter-wiki wars are not allowed on Fandom. The users intending to fight this "war" were banned from this wiki and nothing else came of the situation aside from a moderator and one or two normal users from the pottermore wiki coming here to apologize.
What would be considered a forum war? The Pottermore Incident?
