If we’re including Darth Caedus then Anakin but otherwise NJO Jacen was such an amazing character.
Aayla, so she can be a fantastic big sister/aunt role model to Quinlan and Khaleen’s son.
What can I say that hasn’t already been covered? Great finale for an enjoyable series. Was Andor perfect? No, but I enjoyed it a lot more than have any other Disney Lucasfilm content. Luthen stabbing himself rather than being taken into ISB custody is the perfect move for his character imo. From the very beginning of the series he’s made it no secret that he’s a man who’s got nothing left to lose, so he’s more than prepared to die in this struggle against the Empire. I love how he doesn’t even bother to keep up the charade the minute Dedra brings out the starpath unit from Ferrix. Dude knew he was made but he still kept his cool and he already knew what he wanted to do to prevent himself from being a source of information for the Empire.
I enjoyed the flashbacks of Luthen and Kleya. It really adds a lot more depth to their relationship and how they worked seamlessly together. I felt so bad for Kleya having to take Luthen of his life support. Even though she knew he would rather die than live in Imperial custody, you can really tell how much it broke her having to essentially kill the closest thing she had to a father/mentor. Kleya has always been the cool, calculating agent so it was interesting seeing how much Luthen’s death made her unravel as she relayed the Death Star connections to Cassian.
Dedra in Narkina 5 is the perfect ending for her character. Normally snitches get stitches but homegirl didn’t even snitch on nobody and she still ended up in the big house 😂. K2-S0 never disappoints. That’s all I gotta say about his inclusion in the show. The guy’s a delight every time he’s onscreen. As far as the Rebel Meeting goes I never thought I’d say this in my life but Bail Organa was working on my last nerve. I never would’ve guessed he’d be the one pushing back the most against the Death Star news but I guess it adds a bit of twisted irony to his looking fate.
Cassian’s walkthrough of the Rebel Base on his way to his RO mission was very well done. It was great seeing how far he’s come and how many people he connected with/changed along the way. Speaking of which, Bix has a child, who’s presumably his. Oh boy, don’t you love stories where a good character doesn’t get to meet the child they never knew they had 😭? Well, at least Bix will be able to tell their child how much Cassian changed for the better and how many lives he helped save.
I’ve read a great deal of Post-ROTJ, Rise of the Empire era, some of the Old Republic era, and most of the Rebellion era content. The EU’s definitely my preferred continuity so I plan on continuing to expand my knowledge of it.
Whew. Andor is good at reminding me why I like it. A lot of great things to digest this week. Seeing Yavin Base being set up was so surreal. The Ghorman massacre was perfectly set up and executed even better. Andor really knows how to make it slow burns worth the pay off. We knew what was coming but when Dedra gave the order to open fire I was like “Aw hell…😱”. Speaking of Dedra, I can’t say I’m surprised by the fallout of her and Syril’s “relationship” (that’s what we’re calling it right 😂). Two people trying to prove their worth by any means necessary, with no regard for what’s going on around. Talk about the basis of a toxic pairing.
Syril’s journey couldn’t have ended better imo. Dude’s been OBSESSED with finding Cassian since the ending of the very first arc of the series and when he finally does they duke it out in an intense fight scene. But of course Cassian drops the irrelevancy bomb on him and manages to hurt him worse than that slap from his mom ever did. To add insult to injury, Syril didn’t even have a moment to process this revelation before his clock ran out.
Mon Mothma’s speech and the tension of getting her out of the senate was done brilliantly. Despite knowing the fact that she’s putting a target on her back she delivered one hell of speech that really makes you sit back and reflect on stuff for a moment. Even though we know both Cassian and Mon Mothma are gonna make it through this alright it was still very refreshing that the entire ordeal made me feel some degree of concern for their safety. I loved Mon Mothma’s reactions to Cassian just executing imperial spies without a second thought. This type of brutality is foreign territory for her and I love how the show took some time to display that. Also, I kinda called it when I predicted that Mon Mothma wouldn’t get any goodbye scenes with her family. There’s really no love lost in the Mothma family anyway so 🤷♂️. There’s no turning back now, which leads me to my last topic.
Bix and Cassian parting ways definitely got next to me a bit. I was honestly betting that she would be killed but I’m glad that she got to survive the series. But alas, she left Cassian with the heartbreaking hope that they can reunite after the Empire is gone. Yeesh, sometimes it really sucks knowing what we know about future events.
^My thoughts exactly. Leida has shown all the signs of agreeing with any stance that her mom doesn’t agree with so finding out the exact nature of Mon Mothma’s hectic schedule would only further tarnish their relationship imo.
^Based on everything we’ve seen in Andor so far and the fact that Mon Mothma’s family isn’t present with her by the time she joins the Rebellion full time, I doubt they’ll be a reconciliation in the Mothma family’s future. I would wager Mon Mothma would feel immense guilt for having to leave her daughter but I doubt she would feel that bad about ditching Perrin. It’s just a divorce without the actual paperwork 😂. Besides, I’ve seen amicable exes with a lot more chemistry and compassion between them than Perrin and Mon Mothma.
I’m trying to keep in mind that Leida is unaware of the sacrifices her mother is making for the greater and her busy schedule causes Leida to feel neglected. That said, saying hurtful things like “I wish you were drunk” isn’t gonna address their issues. That’s just piling on, which makes me feel like Leida is more interested in taking shots at Mon Mothma rather than sit down and have an honest conversation about the root of their strained relationship.
I got another one. Ki-Audi-Mundi mentored two future Sith Lords for a short period of time (Anakin and A’Sharad Hett). Talk about bad juju lol.
@Daisy Aipom Definitely appreciate your perspective on this and to clarify, I’m not blaming the dysfunctional relationship of the family entirely on Leida. I just can’t stand the fact that when Mon Mothma tried to put Leida’s emotional well being above all else, she chose to say something so hurtful in return. It would be nice if Leida’s rebellious attitude towards Mon Mothma gave way to a genuine conversation about the root of the problem between them, but given that by the time Mon Mothma openly rebels against the Empire her family is nowhere to be found I doubt things will end well for them either way.
I do agree that Mon Mothma’s secret activities for the growing rebellion and Perrin being the most unsupportive, un-affectionate husband have definitely played a role in this dysfunction too. I’ve been saying it since day one that I can’t picture a time when Mon Mothma and Perrin had the chemistry of a loving relationship. Dude seems to get a real kick out of taking jabs at Mon Mothma. The fact that Mon Mothma can’t confide in Perrin or Leida has led her to have to tip toe around them, thus leading to Leida feeling like her mother doesn’t care about her.
That deathstick joke Obi Wan made in AOTC was much more than a joke for Cade Skywalker. It was a way of life 😂.
Decent first batch of episodes. I really enjoyed getting a deep onscreen look at Chandrila culture. My heart continues to go out to Mon Mothma because my god did I not miss how cruel her daughter is to her. Despite everything that’s at stake for this wedding, Mon Mothma offers Leida an out and Leida essentially tells her to go get drunk. I’m sorry but that line hits way too close to home for me and I already despised Leida. I can’t wait to see Mon Mothma free from this dysfunctional family of hers. So much for Tay Kolma. Vel knew what was going down the minute she saw Cinta taking him away.
Dedra and Syril being in a relationship isn’t much of a surprise for me and I love how Dedra put Syril’s mom in her place. That’s a ride or die for you right there lol. Bix just goes through too much. She’s still having nightmares about her time being tortured by the Empire and for her to nearly be raped by an imperial…just yeesh. I didn’t think they’d go through with this scene when I first heard rumors about it but they went there. Cassian’s arc as a devoted rebel was decent but the rebel cell he was held captive by quickly worked on my nerves.
Misclicked. Cade is definitely my favorite out of these. Nomi and Dass are pretty high up there as well.
One of Quinlan’s main motivations for being there was to discover the identity of the second Sith so Dooku definitely could’ve used that to his advantage if he wanted to overthrow Sidious.
The EU made it a point of showing how Quinlan would be susceptible to Dooku’s manipulation by displaying his volatile and morally questionable nature in his very first arc. His undercover arc in Dooku’s Acolyte was so well written that I genuinely felt the Jedi’s concerns that he had really gone over to the dark side. TCW Quinlan acted like such a “surfer dude” trope that I honestly can’t picture him lasting a single day in Dooku’s employ.
I had a hard time choosing between Jacen (Pre-Darth Caedus), Nomi, and Cade. I went with Cade though because he’s my favorite antihero/bounty hunter in the franchise.
I’m going with Winter. Highly underrated character and honorary member of the Organa family. She’s an amazing undercover agent and I enjoyed her character development in the Rogue Squadron comics.
^Yeah. She did eventually accept who Anakin was but I was mostly referring to fact that it was a major factor in why I like her EU characterization. Even after she accepted Anakin’s goodness she still never took the Skywalker and I thought that was pretty interesting.
^I will forever be salty about the “Legends” thing.
Mara’s my top favorite female character in the entire franchise. I love her journey from the Emperor’s Hand to a Jedi Master in the New Jedi Order. Not to mention her and Luke compliment each flawlessly. Her pragmatism and field expertise balances his optimism and force prowess. EU Leia is a close second. I love that she never accepted the Skywalker name and focused on her political career for many years before becoming a Jedi. I also loved her how she named her youngest son Anakin as her way of believing that her son could be the Jedi she wished her father was.
2003/EU Grievous because he actually showed why he’s a famous Jedi killer.
