Im not sure who it was, but a long time before the events of episode 1, darth bane was attempting to make and use a holocron to store his teachings and he tried for years until his apprentice told him there might be answers on tython, then he went out ikmediately and came across the temple of an old sith lord who was part of i think the Shi'ido race of shapeshifters and she left behind a holocron which taught darth bane the steps to making his own, i cant remember her nane for the life of me, can someone please tell me?

You dont need to do the hand wave, it just makes it easier because it confuses the trooper leading their mind exactly where it needs to be, so i think thats why rey failed the first time, also she's one of the chosen ones so it comes naturally to some extent
