Alright gang…the wait for Celebration is almost over. Lucasfilm has now revealed the official schedule. Read it for yourself here.
I’m unclear on what panels will be streamed. I’ve seen some publications saying that they’ll be streaming every panel, and that’s what they seemed to imply on Twitter, but the article does say select “select panels” will be streamed, and there are a few time conflicts. So who knows. My hope is that after a few dismal Celebrations for the at-home audience, Lucasfilm is taking the criticism to heart and actually streaming all the major panels like they used to. There’s no point to exclusive panels in 2025. Everything gets leaked anyway lol.
Notably, unlike past years, there is no panel for discussing future live action films and/or television shows, so unless they sneak something into the closing ceremony (unlikely) don’t expect any huge, bring-down-the-house announcements this year.
But I think we can safely expect the following:
Mandalorian and Grogu Teaser
Something for Ahsoka Season 2
Visions Volume 3 Trailer
The reveal of the next animated series, probably a trailer
Footage for Respawn’s upcoming turn-based game
And keep in mind, Light and Magic Season 2 will go live on the first day of Celebration, and Andor Season 2 will begin the following Tuesday.
On the publishing side of things, there’s a whole panel dedicated to Manga, which is fitting for Celebration Japan, but unexpected. I’m into it though. And then for other comics and novels there is, of course, the main tentpole publishing panel. Personally, I’m hoping for a big novel or comic set during the ST. That era has gotten so shafted in terms of EU content. All its major projects have been forced to tie into the films or the theme park. That’s a patch of the timeline that is in desperate need of some world building, so I pray they start to give it some attention.
There are also some really great non-announcement-based panels too. Personally I’m most interested in the Star Wars and Japan panel, Oscar Isaac’s panel (which, if there’s going to be a sneaky announcement, it’ll be there), and Morrison and Logan’s panel. The 50th anniversary of ILM is exciting too.
And for the people in attendance, those screenings should be awesome. Mega-jealous I can’t be there to see Siege of Mandalore straight through on the big screen.
What’s everyone most looking forward to at Celebration this year? For me personally, it’d have to be Visions Volume 3. Though, ultimately, it all comes down to how much they stream. All due respect to the Live team, I’m only interested in the panels.
