I understand fully well it would rewrite everything and change the plans of all the series so is not feasible.

It was a rip-off of ANH because uuuhhh I guess anakin blew up something at the end
Kid with no Dad lives on a planet called Tatooine, owns a droid called C3PO, pilots ships around a place called Beggar's Canyon.
Found by Jedi who he looks up to as a mentor figures, one of whom is called Obi Wan Kenobi.
One of them is killed by a Sith lord with a red lightsaber.
Helps rescue a member of royalty then destroys a spherical battle station on his first ever space combat flight.
Sound familiar?
- A young protagonist living on a desert planet who discovers they have a special connection to the Force- A droid carrying important information that ends up on the desert planet- A dark and powerful villain dressed in black who serves a larger dark overlord- A resistance movement fighting against an oppressive regime- A cantina scene featuring various alien species- A mentor figure who dies early on in the film to motivate the protagonist- A climactic battle to destroy a large weapon capable of destroying planets- The destruction of a planet as a show of power by the villains
I think both are ANH rip offs by the way. I'm not defending TFA, just bringing balance to the force.
so we can get the amazing rip-off of A New HopeAt least it was amazing. Some rip-offs are worse than the original, but TFA was just as good imo. That’s something.
^ Good point.
I'm going through Fandom right now looking at some Legends articles. I grew up with Thrawn and all the early to mid 90s Star Wars. Absolutely love all of it. But the best to hope for is to incorporate some of that bit by bit in to current Canon. Maybe it will be a surprise how well some of the material fits. Canon and
Legends are both CANON to me. The more material the more blessed we are.
Legends was before my time, but I still don't think they are better than the sequels.
Tails make successes. 90% of legends could have been awful, but it's only the good ones you remember. Add a healthy nostalgia filter to the mix, and you get this exact sentiment.
"Sequel bad" is a terrible place to be, simply because they weren't bad. TFA was a ripoff of ANH, but ANH was a ripoff of the "hero's journey" as a concept. Almost every story in the heroic fantasy genre follow the journey. There's a reason some things are common everywhere: it's just good storytelling.
Child from backwater town learns his father is actually a major figure, and is picked up by a wise mentor figure to learn the ways of his people and join a world off fantasy and adventure, doing something big by his people's standards.
I could be describing anything from The Once and Future King to Harry Potter to Star Wars to The wheel of Time.
No point claiming they're ripoffs, since the trilogy as a whole actually did something new. The macro facts are the same, but the details you actually see are different.
I wouldn't put it past Dave Filoni to try & redo the original trilogy with Ezra Bridger & Sabine Wren defeating the Emperor & Darth Vader
That literally wouldn’t work since Ezra was in the Unknown Regions during the OT. Sure, Filoni has retconned books and comics before, but I highly doubt he would retcon his own shows, especially since the whole reason why Ezra was sent into the Unknown Regions in the first place was because he couldn’t be with the Rebellion in the OT era. I get that some people hate Dave Filoni, but it’s clear that he respects some continuity and imo it’s unrealistic to say that he’ll redo the OT (or that Disney will let him even if he wanted to) with a character that he himself wrote to be in a whole other galaxy during the OT.
However, I do think it would be great to get some Ghost crew stories that take place during the OT. More Ghost crew is always good, and just in general an animated show set in the OT era is something that’s been missing in Star Wars even though it’s supposedly the “main” or “original” era of Star Wars. The prequels got TCW, the early Rebellion era got Rebels, the sequels got Resistance, but there isn’t any onscreen content about the OT era apart from the OT itself.
What do you think?
