^ Her level of entitlement puts even the Karen stereotype to shame.
^Tell me about it. Apparently time has to stop moving whenever she has a problem that needs fixing lol. I rolled my eyes when she had the nerve to call out Obi Wan for not cleaning up the Maul situation and giving into his feelings for Satine. I’m like “Excuse me, which one of y’all joined the organization that wanted to off her?”
She's a literal terrorist. She's shown no remorse for any of her actions and deserves no sympathy or respect because of it.
I feel validated to know there are others that feel the same way I do about this character, she a terrorist and a hypocrite. :)
I think these “fan demands” for how specifically Bo-Katan needs to apologize or what level of sorrow is acceptable are biased and superficial.
These arguments sound like priests in a confessional saying your sorrow isn’t enough and then proceeding to lecture you on your faults.
From a practical perspective, if Bo-Katan in the Mandalorian had a long exposition, giving a long laundry list of all the things she’s sorry about it wouldn’t make sense to 95% of the viewers. Specifically apologizing for something in a random cartoon episode from a different show wouldn’t work in the context of the show.
She’s done her part, and in my opinion “Bo-Katan does not owe you an apology”. She’s anti-hero and good one as far as SW is concerned.
My problem with Bo-Katan is that it feels like there is a disconnect between her animated Clone Wars self and the version we see in The Mandalorian. Her initial appearance in the Clone Wars portrayed her as a secondary antagonist to Pre Viszla and she was unequivocally a murderer and a terrorist. But she considerably mellows out in S7 and Rebels. Turning into some sort of leader figure.
In The Mandalorian we see or know very little of her past but in no mysterious sense. More so they don't want to communicate it to the audience and as such it feels like a more shallow version of the same character. As such it's confusing for fans when she is named Mandalore for the third time. So in terms of if the character deserves redemption? We need to solve that disconnect first because that's why people feel she is entitled but ask a fan who has only watched The Mandalorian. They'll likely have a different opinion about Bo-Katan compared to a Clone Wars fan.
She’s awesome as is. I don’t need her to be a perfect morally good character to be interesting and well-written, she’s flawed and gray and that’s okay.
I do think the narrative could have done a better job at painting her as a gray character though, especially in TCW season 7 when Ahsoka partnered up with her willingly and seemingly with no hesitation, without once mentioning what she herself has witnessed Bo-Katan do, such as burning down a village. I mean, it’s possible they had that conversation offscreen, but imo it was kind of unrealistic to see Ahsoka and Bo-Katan suddenly become allies if not friends without ever addressing Bo-Katan’s actions. Even a short conversation that goes “I’ll help you, but it’s funny how you now want peace and the Republic to step in when you contributed to Maul managing to grab power in the first place / “I was wrong, I realize my error in judgement now” could have done wonders for fan perception of Bo-Katan’s character.
To me she already deserves it and she is redeemed for her actions
Easy no. Despite showing remorse for causing her sister to be killed, she showed too little if any remorse for her past actions. I genuinely believe she displays many more negative traits even after her so-called “redemption” and yet the other Mandalorians ultimately don’t even care about her background as a Death Watch member committing countless crimes.
I bet she joined death watch to ensure her sister killed. My brother maybe complicated but he is still brother. I would try finish his work. That us what bo-katan is doing in her way.
What do you think?
