I always thought that Anakin Force choking Padmé was a clear indicator that he had an inclination towards domestic abuse. Anakin's love for Padmé was possessive not compassionate. His love for anyone was always an extension of ego, and so psychologically, when he feels that even the one he loved the most "turned against him", suddenly even they fall outside of his in-group and become an acceptable target for violence. This psychology is not at all uncommon in the real-world.
It is not that Anakin's fall to the dark side changed his personality and made hurting Padmé permissible to him; it is that the risk of him committing domestic violence under jealousy and stress was always there and that is intertwined with other facets of his psychology that caused his fall.
This post has actually caused me to realize that we take for granted he would have lived a happily ever after with Padmé and their kids had he not fallen, but realistically, there is a chance that he could have turned out to be a bad husband or father later in life nonetheless. The counter-argument to that could be that he would have been mentally healthy enough to treat his family well, but the obsessive fear of losing them all throughout their lives could still revive the same issues.
