The origin of Han Solo's name

Does anyone know how his name was conceived in production? I have a strong suspicion that the first name was taken from Asimov's Foundation universe. There are two characters named Han, Han Fastolfe and Han Pritcher. Unfortunately, it is hard to find a source through all those articles about the origin of "Solo" in Solo: A Star Wars Story.

It would be a nice addition to Behind the scenes on his page.

Hi! It is possible that George Lucas was inspired by Asimov in naming Han.

I think it's more likely that the creator intended for Han to have a spacey "John Doe" name signifying that he kind of came from nothing, especially since "Han" and "John" are the same name used in different languages. Lucas himself has mixed European heritage, and it is very probably he had an ancestor named "Han" that may have inspired him as well.

As far as the "Solo" part, the meaning is intended to be the same in the Star Wars galaxy as on our planet. "Alone. Singular," again signifying that he came from nothing and originally had no people (other than his ill-fated childhood love interest, Qi'ra).
