If I did fall to the dark side I wouldn’t want to join the Sith since I know nothing good will come of it, I’ll either become a pawn in a game I’ll never be able to win in who will be cast aside the second I’m not useful anymore, or I’ll get backstabbed and die gruesomely. I’d rather go off alone and do my own thing like Maul, still using the dark side but answering to no one but me- at least then I’ll have better chances of living a good life and making it to old age.
