The Clone War largely caused the galactic populace to become extensively divided in their perspectives regarding the Jedi Order. A majority of the population confided in the idea that the Jedi of new had strayed far from their foundational principles by prolonging the conflict, thus harboring resentment and skepticism toward the Jedi and their power. Palpatine capitalized on this division, intelligently exploiting the majority through a fabricated narrative that the Jedi Order attempted to assassinate him as part of a ploy to seek control of the Galactic Senate and further the extent of their political power.

A major theme throughout real-world history has been that when citizens of a government feel unsafe, they look to a single, powerful figure for guidance. The people of the Republic were just so tired of the Separatists wreaking havoc upon the Galaxy, they were willing to trust a dictator with absolute power as long as he defeated the droid menace.

I guess because they had no other choice to follow the change otherwise they might be worried on what might happen to them if they didn’t

All of the above are really good points.

People tired of conflict/strife/poverty/uncertainty/fear often willingly accept a dictator's control if it means stability and certainty.

But they also know they may suffer dire consequences if they speak out against the regime.

Then you have those who are true believers, who have drank the Kool-Aid(y Mundi) and think what Palps said regarding Jedi is true.

Plus you have those who feel they can benefit from the regime is they kiss Palp's behind.

Combine them all and you have control over your populace.

Only a small number are brave enough to stand and fight.
